Which underwear is good for men?

Boxers, Briefs, or Commando? A Urologist Weighs In.

On the one hand, Soleymani told us that boxers protect a delicate area from zipper accidents. (Another pro, from my POV: boxers are sexy. They seem more grown-up than briefs, plus I can steal them and wear them as running shorts in a pinch.)

On the other hand, boxer briefs can be uncomfortable, according to consumer research conducted by OG underwear brand Fruit of the Loom, which, you know, seems like an objective source that we should definitely trust. “Leg ride-up is the number-one complaint among boxer brief wearers,” according to the underpants producer.

Soleymani offers another reason to steer clear of boxers, especially if you’re an active guy: “Boxers can be bad, especially for sports, because of friction leading to chafing. Testicular torsion is also a concern for athletes due to a lack of ball support.”

A quick Internet investigation revealed that testicular torsion is something you definitely don’t want. Note: Do not do an image search. As you might guess, it hurts… a lot.

So athletes, you have your answer: Bring on the briefs, right? Uh, not so fast. Turns out that while briefs offer ball support and reduce chafing, they do make things a little hot and humid, creating just the kind of groin sauna that fungus enjoys. “Increased moisture can lead to infectious skin issues like tinea cruris (jock itch),” Soleymani says.

If you do opt for briefs, choose moisture-wicking synthetic materials and be sure to shower and put on a fresh pair after working out. “Pro tip: put on socks before putting on underwear,” Soleymani says. That’s because athlete’s foot fungus can hitch a ride to your crotch when you step in your underpants.

What Men Should Know About Underwear

You wouldn’t think there’d be a lot to learn about underwear — wear it, change it, wash it, repeat — but there’s actually more than most men think. And whether guys choose boxers, briefs, or live to go commando, chances are, underwear rarely gets a second thought.

As a results, many men lack “underwear etiquette,” says Gregory D. Albert, MD, a physician in Delray Beach, Fla. “Underwear most importantly needs to be changed frequently and always remain clean, and I need to tell you, be discarded when they are thread-bare or stained,” he stresses. “If you work out or sweat excessively, it may be a good idea to change midday to remain fresh.” Here are more experts dos and don’ts.

Simple Rules for What You Wear Under There

With that sentiment in mind, there are a number of simple rules you can follow when it comes to men’s health and underwear. For starters, April Masini, a relationship advice expert and columnist, seconds the commandment that underwear dos include throwing out the old. “Your old underwear is not sentimental,” she says. “It’s disgusting. Throw it out. Once a month throw out any underwear that is unpresentable. Gray, ripped, unsightly. Get rid of it. Uncertain? Toss it.”

Masini says this purge should be accompanied by buying new underwear regularly. “In fact, every time you get a haircut, buy some new underwear. Link buying new underwear to something you already do on a schedule, so you get into the habit.”

Don’t get locked into just one type of underwear. “My advice is to switch it up — and unless you’re religiously committed to boxers or briefs, have fun with your underwear and have some of both,” says Masini. “If you have fun with your underwear, she will, too — and everybody wins! Colors, fabrics, cuts, styles — have at least one pair of each. One of the best things you can do for your relationship is to keep things fresh in the bedroom, and while your underwear isn’t a cure-all for bad bedroom skills, it sure can’t hurt.”

Boxers or Briefs — the Pros and Cons

Variety might be the spice of life (and underwear), but it also brings to mind the age-old men’s health debate: boxers or briefs? Here, Dr. Albert says, it’s really a matter of your own personal tastes more than anything else. “Generally, boxers will give you more breathing room, and briefs will give you support,” he says. “It is a matter of preference, yet tighter briefs will lower fertility, so if you are trying to get your wife pregnant, stick with loose-fitting boxers.”

Material Matters

The next issue to consider is what material to choose. Masini says that men, just like women, should choose cotton or synthetic blends for everyday wear and save the more luxurious silks and other fun fabrics for special occasions.

For the gym, Maurice Voce, the co-founder and chief marketing officer of skin care line Skin Authority, says that the newest synthetic blends are the way to go to prevent chaffing. “You definitely need to wear underwear that provides the proper level of support and utilizes a moisture-wicking fabric,” he says. “Never wear boxers, cotton, or go commando when working out. The good news is there are so many athletic underwear choices at all price points. Also, never wear workout underwear more than once without washing them.”

The Pros and Cons of Going Commando

Another underwear option is to wear no underwear at all. This can be fun and feel great in the right circumstances, but our experts advise proceeding with caution. “Going commando can be very sexy, but like everything else, there’s a time and a place,” Masini says. “Commando is great if you’re going for a sexy evening with a predictable outcome. However, dancing the night away first is going to have a sweaty outcome, which is not ideal. Also, linen trousers or shorts are going to reveal a little too much of your commando profile. If you go commando, wear something that makes your underwear status your little secret revealed by choice, not visual impact.”

4 Types Of Underwear Men Should Check Out!

Usually, no one tells you this but a wrong pair of underwear can probably ruin your entire day. An awkward fabric and lack of support will distract your business and you won’t be able to focus on your work no matter what. Unfortunately, men don’t give much importance to their underwear. However, choosing the best underwear for men doesn’t have to be difficult. Though there are different types of underwear and mens underwear styles available in the market, choosing the right one for you can make a difference in your everyday life. Mentioned below are some of the male underwear types and how you should be choosing the right one for you.

The Four Different Types of Underwear

Don’t want to have an awkward and uncomfortable situation because of your underwear? These four types of underwear listed below will ensure that you have a great day.

Boxers – Underwear for More Breathability.

Source – Pinterest

Boxers are more on the loose fitting side. Though it provides no support at all, it gives more breathability than the other four types of men’s underwear. Majority of the boxers offer an exit route to the user called fly. There are different types of boxers available in the market and this means there is a boxer made right for everyone. Additionally, boxers are great to wear every day, especially during sports events. Men can opt for a more relaxed fit for maximised leg support. Boxers can be worn well with shorts, slimmer fitting bottoms, and tailored dress pants.

Boxer Briefs – A Combination of Boxers and Briefs.

Boxer briefs are one among the different types of underwear that a man couldn’t compromise with. They represent the two major underwear types and importantly provide the right amount of support. They are mainly designed to resemble a tapered boxer with a snug. Like briefs, they remain comfortable to wear all throughout the day. Boxers underwear could be worn while partaking in physical activities and works well even if you are not in the best shape. Typically they reach halfway down your thighs and feature an average rise on the waist. They go well with winter wool, denim, and coarse fabric.

Trunks – The Most Popular Type of Men’s Underwear.

After their invention, trunks grew to be popular among the types of underwear male audiences prefer. This is because of the fact that trunk resembles both brief and a boxer brief. One could even define trunks as a boxer brief with short legs. Overall, trunks appear in a square shape. If you are a brief fanatic and would like to try something different, then trunks are your best option in mens brief styles. Wear it with almost any attire, and when going for your daily job or moderate sports events. They are a perfect accompaniment when you go swimming.

Briefs – Best Underwear For Men.

Men usually have a pair of this underwear in their wardrobe. They are the standard pair of underwear that you could wear on almost all occasions. More importantly, they come in a wide range of designs, rises, and colours. They cover your entire pelvic region but leave the side of your leg and upper thigh exposed. They are comfortable to be worn with all ensembles and are perfect for men who require support. Additionally, they are perfect to be worn every day and also during sports events. They are the most common and a perfect fit among all the mens underwear styles.

Briefs vs. Boxers

Source – Rediff Source – Lefux

There is always a confusion going on as of which type of underwear is best for males, should I wear boxers or briefs, which one is a perfect choice and what is the difference between boxers and briefs? Boxer underwear is something that better suit the grown-up men who would need something that is a little more padded and something that would cover your thighs.

Boxers closely resemble shorts and thus make your lower body appear a little bigger than usual. Thus, boxers suit those men who are slightly on the thinner side with disproportions. Nonetheless, you can’t go wearing boxers to the gym as they can act like a loose cannon when working out. Briefs provide support and completely hug the body. Unfortunately, not every man has the physique of a model or athlete. Nonetheless, they provide better support than boxers and at the same time provide complete freedom for movement too. When wearing briefs there are lesser chances of wardrobe malfunctioning though they don’t completely cover the inner part of your thighs. Furthermore, there are chances of chafing as your body moves around.

Men’s Underwear Styles Based On Different Body Types

Underwear is the first thing that you slip into every day before heading out. Just like any other attire, underwear does come in different shapes and sizes. Moreover, not every type suits everyone. There are many mens underwear types and it can get difficult to know which one is fit for you among these several men underwear types. For this reason, you need to have a better understanding of your body types and types of men underwear in order to choose the right one that makes you look fantastic and feel comfortable.

The Slimmer Physique

When you have a slimmer physique, you will always have to opt for the tighter options because wearing baggy underwear can make you look more skinny or bony. Trunks suits this body type the most as they are longer than briefs yet not too tight to be worn. Wearing trunks won’t make you look as if you are wearing a diaper and at the same time your legs won’t look like matchsticks sticking out of a pile of fabric too.

The Tall Lads

Source – Scene7

The tall guys must be pondering about which underwear should I wear? Taller guys over 6ft. will have to stick with boxer briefs no matter what. Wearing a shorter fabric would make you look really tall. Give yourself all the materials to work with and cover your spare legs.

The Short Guys

Source – malecelebnews

Shorter guys have to be careful when opting for underwear that is too lengthy as it may make you appear a lot shorter than your actual height. Briefs are your perfect fix as they don’t feature much material. So, you can flash a lot more of your flesh.

Having delved into the world of underwear, we hope you do not find it to be as hard as you had thought to choose the best underwear for men. Lastly, keep comfort as the top priority when shopping for underwear. Don’t opt for a boxer because you have heard that it feels comfortable. Rather, opt for the type that you feel would be able to suit your requirements and would save you from all the awkwardness and discomfort.

A recent Harvard study found men who wore boxers had about 25% more sperm than those who wore briefs

  • The “boxers versus briefs” debate may be over. According to experts, wearing tight underwear like briefs creates a temperature increase that prevents sperm from growing and developing properly.
  • A recent Harvard study found that men who wore looser underwear, like boxers or boxer-briefs, had about 25% more sperm in their collected samples.
  • Researchers believe that tight underwear could jeopardize the fertility of men who already suffer from low sperm counts.
  • But it’s possible to reverse damage caused by wearing tight underwear by switching to a less confining option.
  • Visit BusinessInsider.com for more stories.

Following is a transcript of the video.

Boxer shorts were introduced in the 1920s for, well, boxers. The underwear was loose around the legs, giving boxers the freedom they needed. Then, about a decade later, briefs came into the world.

Offering a sleeker, tighter-fitting option, and also launching into effect that age-old question: Boxers or briefs? And it turns out, there might be a clear winner after all.

Yes, wearing tighty-whities can lower your sperm count.

You read that right: Wearing tight underwear can lower your sperm count.

Turns out, if underwear is too tight, it pushes the testicles closer to the body, increasing their temperature in the process. And that’s bad news for the sperm inside.

You see, a man’s sperm production is at its best when his testicles are cooler than his core body temperature — 2 to 4 degrees Celsius cooler, to be exact.

That’s why the testes hang down, away from the body, for most mammals. So when you wear tight underwear, the resulting increase in temperature can damage the sperm, and potentially your fertility as well. Scientists have been studying this link between body heat and fertility for years, several studies show that men who work under hot conditions, like bakers and ceramic-oven operators, are more likely to have fertility issues than men who work cooler jobs.

But ovens are much warmer than the human body. So it wasn’t until recently that researchers discovered that yes, even a small increase in temperature — from wearing tight underwear — can cause problems. In 2018, Harvard researchers released the largest study on the subject to date. They analyzed 656 men seeking treatment at fertility centers and recorded their daily underwear preference: boxers or non-boxers, like briefs and jockeys.

Sure enough, men who wore boxers had 33% more mobile sperm — the kind that can swim and successfully fertilize an egg. They also just had more sperm in general — about 25% more in their collected samples. But the researchers also found something they weren’t expecting. Men in the non-boxers group had higher levels of something called a follicle stimulating hormone, or FSH. FSH is released by the pituitary gland to help boost sperm production in the testes. So, researchers think that an increase in FSH levels could be the body’s way of compensating for low sperm production.

And while both groups of men still had plenty of sperm needed to conceive a child, researchers found that tight underwear might jeopardize the fertility of men who already suffer from low sperm counts.

Luckily, young, healthy men tend to produce sperm continuously, so it’s possible to reverse damage caused by wearing tight underwear, simply by switching to a less confining option.

On a daily basis if you watch television shows there is a good chance that you will see a major brand marketing men’s underwear. Of course it is all done in good taste and nothing that would be considered NSFW (not safe for work).

However, it is not a daily conversation that you would hear every day between two men. Not that they don’t exist at all, but for some reason unless you are a model (or something of that nature) oddly enough men don’t talk about this amongst each other a lot.

However, that is why we are here! Instead of verbally talking about it, let’s call it even that you reading and us writing suffices as a normal conversation. In this article we are going to go in-depth in regards to the different types of underwear available for men. There are some types better for men than others depending on the situation.

We’ll explain the details so you are no longer be in the dark anymore.

The Ultimate Mens Underwear Guide

Preference in Underwear Material

For the most part when it comes to the materials used to make men’s underwear there are two dominant options available. (Cotton and Synthetic/Polyester are your two options men.)

There is absolutely no problem behind the type you choose (or both at your discretion). Nonetheless, there are major differences that you should look forward to when you are in the market for purchasing new underwear.

Of course if you are allergic to any of the material, seek an alternative version to the other at your leisure. They exist and they are not hard to find by any means.

The most commonly used material that you will see any brand boast about Is cotton. Cotton underwear has its variety of benefits that makes it superb compared to the others.

On average you will see that the majority of the underwear for men out there are either 100% cotton or 90% cotton. Pretty much making it the presumptive dominant material in the arena of men’s underwear.

With this in mind, the material (whether by itself or blended) lasts for a lot longer than the alternatives. Cotton underwear is popular because many men find it to be most comfortable, they last longer, and do not hold in odor (which everyone benefits from without question).

Generally when you are an active man at your job and/or in extra curricular activities such as sports, cotton underwear is the best option for you (again if you are allergic to cotton, you can disregard this part).

What many people don’t discuss (especially men to men on average) are the fun type of underwear options that are available. In hindsight, men don’t necessarily care as much about design (per se) of their underwear in the same manner that women do. However, this does not mean in anyway, form or fashion that men can not have fun “non-traditional” underwear too!

Synthetic/polyester underwear are generally the screen printed/superhero designed underwear. While the underwear is a representation of a man knowing that he does not have to be 100% serious all the time, synthetic/polyester underwear does have its pros and cons.

The Pros include the latter factors (design capabilities/options). Another major factor (pro) is that they are extremely comfortable to sit back and relax/sleep in at your leisure. If you know for a fact that all you want to do is feel good, relax or even have fun (with your significant other per se) by all means go out and purchase you some designed underwear!

The Cons that synthetic/polyester underwear receive is the fact that odor tends to stick in the material and stay there. Unfortunately the material is susceptible to smells because of its thinness. Even after you wash them diligently, overtime, they tend to become unbearable in regards to aroma. With this in mind, look at synthetic/polyester underwear (that are 90%-100%) as your “special occasion” underwear.

Variety of styles

There are a variety of styles when it comes to men’s underwear. Initially there may not seem all too different, yet they are.

Each style has its specific uses and details. At the end of the day, the easy reason why men find it fairly easy to shop for underwear on a routine basis… it’s not a complicated process!

What we are going to do now is share with you top suggestions of each underwear type that you can keep on your radar when searching for new underwear.

White briefs for the athletic men (what many know as whitey tighties)

Lets start the list out on a less serious note. As young boys, the underwear that boys start out wearing after diaper are white briefs (aka whitey tighties).

Although it may seem the joke around town that everyone except the boy wearing them can make fun of, they actually have a specific purpose that they serve.

Even as kids young boys who are athletic need to start understanding that their “male parts” need support on a daily basis. As they grow up to become men (and possibly even more athletic/physically active) in extracurricular activities, they will understand the benefits of white briefs.

As stated earlier, cotton underwear are more susceptible to odor and lasts longer. For the most part, white briefs are predominately made with cotton material (if not 100% created with cotton).

Hanes Men’s Ultimate Full-Cut Pre Shrunk Brief

Hanes is obviously one of the most known and recognizable brands when it comes to men’s underwear.

Hanes full-cut white briefs are available in white (of course), created with 100% Premium ComfortSoft cotton, which makes them extremely comfortable to wear on a daily basis.

The waistband is also highly durable and dependable as you move around on a daily basis.

Unlike regular boxers and boxer briefs (which will be covered next) because of their waistband elements, this is why they are the best options for men who are athletes and play their sports on a consistent basis.

Regular boxers (also known as a “man’s every day casual wear” boxers)

There are very (and we mean very) few men that do not own what are labeled as regular boxers by choice. Consider this the upgrade from the whitey tighties that boys eagerly await in their younger years.

Unlike whitey tighties, there is really no major specific reason for regular boxers other than being a support system for your man parts. The only other option that one would have if they decided not to wear any type of boxers (even the regular ones) is to go commando.

If you have ever gone a complete day commando on an extremely hot or cold day, you know that it is not the most comfortable situation to be in.

Champion Men’s Performance Cotton Regular Leg Boxer Briefs

Champion is another major and well noted brand that have cemented their place in men’s underwear necessities.

One thing that you will notice is different than the white briefs are that regular boxers typically come in a lesser pack (like this pack of 3). Don’t take the latter as a bad thing at all because unlike white briefs, boxers come in different colors no matter what pack they are in.

These are one of the underwear options that has a blend of materials (5% spandex, 37% polyester, and 58% cotton). Keep in mind what we said earlier (cotton is generally the predominant material when it comes to blend-material men underwear).

What makes these boxers unique is that the fabric allows for quick drying due to perspiration (sweat) that can be expected on a normal day. The seams on the waistband are also smooth and flat so you do not have to worry about adjusting them constantly throughout the day.

These boxers are also tagless (which once you graduated from the white briefs as a boy, you understand to appreciate the tag missing).

Low rise boxer briefs (aka a man’s “sexy underwear”)

Remember that time we were talking about sexy underwear earlier on in the article? Yeah… we will just get straight to the point here.

BOSS HUGO BOSS Men’s Cotton Stretch Boxer Brief

Low rise boxer briefs for men are what lingerie is for women. Depending on the day, weather, and/or extracurricular activity that you are participating in, the long length on the legs of regular boxers can be a bit irritating at times.

With this in mind (because every man is not the same when it comes to comfort preference) these low rise boxers created by BOSS HUGO BOSS are the solution for feeling more comfortable at your leisure.

Boxer briefs (aka casual underwear option #2 for men)

The difference between regular boxers and boxer briefs are that these are more fitted.

For example, you know that there are regular t-shirts that allow for a little bit of room right? Those are what regular boxers are.

Fitted t-shirts that are very formfitting are what boxer briefs can be compared to.

Fruit of the Loom Men’s Boxer Brief

Fruit of the Loom is widely known for being generous when it comes to pleasing the consumer.

These underwear are created with 100% cotton (except the Heather Grey boxers, which are made of 90% cotton and 10% Polyester).

These come in a pack of 7 and if maintained appropriately will last you for a nice amount of time.

If you would like to purchase these boxer briefs in different colors and mix-matched variety, those options are available as well at your discretion.

As you can see in this list there are definitely some need-to-be-known details when it comes to men’s underwear. There is nothing really too complicated or overly exaggerated by any means when it comes to shop. The great benefit that men have when it comes to shopping for underwear is that everything is pretty much straight forward and to the point.

When you are in the market for new underwear, don’t expect to spend an hour looking for the right choice. If you are looking for a casual/regular style of boxers, playful (and even comedic) synthetic/polyester designs, or underwear that will keep your man parts down under safe, the package speaks for itself.

Men’s Underwear Round 1: Appearance

Definition: How awesome they look on you (specifically without pants)

There are certain things to take into account if you want great-looking underwear. Your body type is a factor. Is your belly a little round or flat? Do you have larger thighs? Proportions matter like they do with other clothes.

1st place: Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs give you the best of both worlds. They’re like lean shorts that give your legs that extra appeal (especially if you happen to be fit). We have Mark Wahlberg and the popular ‘90s ads he was featured in to thank. He rocked them effortlessly and people found them attractive ever since.

2nd place: Boxers

As a grown man you will want something that’s a little more padded and dresses your thighs up. Boxers do that nicely. Since they resemble shorts, they also make the lower body look bigger.

Boxers help adjust the slight disproportions for those on the skinny side. The guys of One Direction were reported all agreeing that they would rather wear boxers. Granted that was a few years back and most of them could be brawnier these days.

3rd place: Briefs

Sadly not everybody has the physique of a Calvin Klein model or a professional athlete. It takes a certain build to pull off underwear that’s shorter in length. It is pretty much why briefs land on the third spot.

Men’s Underwear Round 2: Comfort

Definition: How much support they give your manhood

Let us all remember the big picture when it comes to comfort. There is more to it than just feeling relaxed. We need to give our manhood the necessary support whenever we’re walking or moving around.

1st place: Briefs

Briefs by far provide the most support. The better they are made, the more freedom of motion you get. Just hear what soccer superstar David Beckham had to say about tighty-whities: “They’re comfortable. I think they feel great, especially when you’re playing soccer, as well.”

2nd place: Boxer Briefs

They take the second spot as they’re comfortable enough for an active day. They don’t leave your manhood hanging the way boxers do. Try jogging in boxer briefs and boxers and you’re going to notice the difference.

3rd place: Boxers

When you’re sleeping or you don’t plan on getting out of bed, boxers are good. Aside from that they just lack support. Other men may like the feeling that you’re not wearing anything down there – but that’s really a double-edged sword. Support even matters more when you’re older.

Men’s Underwear Round 3: Functionality

Definition: How well they cover and keep things in place

Your underwear has two primary roles: (1) protection and (2) shielding the little guy from public view. If what you’re wearing does an okay job or sometimes fails at either one – consider a switch.

1st place: Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs cover the inner thighs and are generally immune to the issues that apply to briefs and boxers. Justin Timberlake is said to have tried all three before settling with boxer briefs. He likes “the way they hold everything together,” which is important whenever he sings and dances on stage.

2nd place: Briefs

They’re not at much risk of a wardrobe malfunction (unless they’re the wrong size). However they don’t exactly cover the inner parts of your thighs. And there is also a chance they can cause chafing when your body moves around.

3rd place: Boxers

They can be quite a loose cannon in the gym! Imagine heading there one of these days in a combo of boxers and loose shorts. You might be doing sit-ups only to accidentally give someone a full view of the gems. Many of us think that sends a wrong message.

Men’s Underwear Round 4: Versatility

Definition: The extent of how they look and function as more than underwear

1st place: Boxers

Boxers take first place because they resemble shorts. They have air pockets similar to those of shorts. Wearing them gives your inner thighs some protection from the cold.

2nd place: Boxer Briefs

They cover you up a little more than briefs. They still look like underwear but you could probably get away with them when chilling at a friend’s place for drinks and pizza.

3rd place: Briefs

The fact that they look like nothing else but briefs – it doesn’t make them versatile. Say a fire alarm goes off and you have to leave your house or your building in briefs. What people see is what they get.

Men’s Underwear Round 5: Ladies’ Preference

Definition: What women most want to see their man wearing

The ladies have spoken. And this is one of those times we better hear them out.

1st place: Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs win by a landslide. They are the ones that make most women swoon. As long as you’ve got a decent build and exude enough confidence – no doubt this is the way to go!

2nd place: Boxers

They have an edge over briefs looks-wise. They help add some weight to the lower body, which the ladies seem to like. This also helps a lot when your mid-section is on the larger side.

3rd place: Briefs

When it comes down to it, the majority of women prefer the other two. It might have something to do with the briefs they would see their father or little brother wear back home. Many don’t find them super attractive beyond those billboard ads.

Which Men’s Underwear Is Best Overall?

Here’s the final score of each based on rankings (the lower the better):

Boxers = 11

Briefs = 12

Boxer Briefs = 7

Winner = Boxer Briefs

Boxer briefs take the trophy hands down. The other two only have a single-point difference – while the winner finishes 4 points ahead.

Consider the number of Hollywood heartthrobs who have mentioned they prefer sporting boxer briefs: Ben Affleck, Patrick Dempsey, Josh Duhamel, Jared Padalecki, Mark Salling, John Legend, Adam Levine and John Mayer. Those are guys who are pretty comfortable in their own body (and aren’t afraid to show it off!). Boxer briefs suit them well. Who is to say they won’t suit you?

That isn’t to say you should switch over to boxer briefs this instant. Remember – we’re only here to give you some guidance and perspective. It’s really your style and your call.

Should You Wear Boxers Or Briefs? Science Finally Has The Answer

If you’re packing a pair of testicles, you’ve likely heard that keeping your scrotum and its precious cargo from getting too overheated is essential for maintaining healthy sperm. This proven link between temperature and fertility is often the linchpin of pro-boxer arguments presented during debates with briefs wearers.

And now, a new study by Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health adds more fuel to the long-running underwear superiority war by confirming that tightly fitting gonad garments are associated with reduced sperm concentration and counts using the largest-ever cohort of reproductive age men. Though the physiological mechanisms behind this pattern remain mysterious, the authors also discovered that men who wore briefs, “jockeys” (tight but long undies), or ‘bikinis” (tight and very short undies) had lower blood levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) – a chemical messenger involved in spermatogenesis that is produced in the brain’s pituitary gland.

“An important strength of this study is that we were able to investigate the potential relationship between the type of underwear worn and indicators of testicular function such as reproductive hormone levels and DNA damage, which were missing in all previous studies on the topic,” Dr Lidia Mínguez-Alarcón, first author of the study published in Human Reproduction, said in a statement. She and her colleagues note that numerous investigations have tried to directly connect temperature differences from types of underwear to reproductive health, but the results have been inconsistent.

“Because of this, we were able to find a potential compensatory mechanism whereby decreased sperm production relating to the type of underwear signals to the hypothalamus to increase secretion of gonadotropin, on the testes and that is reflected by the increased levels of FSH, to try to increase sperm production.”

Advantages and Disadvantages of Men’s Bikini Underwear

Well, people have always felt that bikinis are women’s novelty in which they can show off their curves and assets in the best possible way. However, it gets very difficult to imagine men wearing something so sexy and skimpy. Hence, men’s bikini underwear was not considered masculine at all. However, there are guys out there who think that men have the right to own up something that increases their sex appeal and even makes them feel sexier.

The respective men’s underwear style has people who support as well as who oppose it. This article will shed light on both the ends of the subject with the pros and cons related to men’s bikini underwear.

Must-have for summers: You cannot deny the fact that bikinis are the perfect match for summers. However, people are not in a habit of seeing men wearing such tiny pieces on the beach or at the poolside. However, you can check out the history where in the brands like Dolce & Gabbana, Versace and many more introduced them in their collections in the year 1930 as well as 1940. The basic reason for summer bikini is that the fabrics are made to be worn for the water activities and hence, men should wear them in hot months.

Good looks and great feeling: Bikinis are considered as the skimpier version of the conventional briefs because of the short structure and supportive approach. You wouldn’t disagree with the fact that anything that shows off skin as well as lifts the manhood to a better position (the snug fit with enhancing features) is very appealing to the eyes. The pouch options available are great for providing the bigger bulge down there. If you have a toned physique, it will complement the manhood as well as the thighs and abs.

It is easy to maintain: With a small construction and little fabric on both the sides, you won’t find it difficult to wash it. Practically, the shorter the construction, the lesser time it will take for you to wash the pair. So the lesser time you spend doing the laundry, the more amount of leisure time you have for other things.

Sex appeal: You definitely cannot ignore this advantage because people slip in a bikini for flaunting their skin or for the sex appeal it provides to the male anatomy. Available in numerous fabrics from lace to see-through, you’ll surely catch eyeballs wherever you flaunt it.

Can ride up the butt crack: The biggest problem guys face is that the fabric runs up or rides up the butt crack and creates an uncomfortable feeling in the back. However, the reason which leads to this situation is the wrong size. If you buy a size bigger, it will drool in the back and ride up whenever you sit or bend properly. On the other hand, if you buy a shorter size you’ll end up feeling uncomfortable, and it might lead to wear and tear of the fabric. Hence, the right size is very necessary.

Is suitable for specific physiques: Unlike other pairs of boxer briefs or boxers, bikinis do not suit every body type. Though, people talk a lot about that every style can be worn with every physique; the guys who are on the heavier side may feel timid and scared of the embarrassment that happens because of that. So, the only solution to this is to gear up and motivate yourself to look appealing in the pair and then have the respective style.

So, these are the advantages as well as disadvantages of the sexy and supportive men’s bikini underwear. Whether you love it or you don’t, it will be there for men who love the looks as well as the functionality of the guys underwear.

11 Reasons Why Men Should Wear Underwear Instead of Going Commando

Isn’t it weird how commando, the word for a soldier trained in doing ambushes, now also means going without underwear? I don’t see the connection. Letting your boys hang loose is nothing like going to battle. But many would disagree. There’s a lot of support for ditching underwear altogether. Here are 11 reasons you should keep wearing underwear instead.

1. You’ll less likely suffer from chafing down there

Chafing is a skin irritation that occurs when skin repeatedly rubs against skin or clothes. You’re putting yourself at risk of irritating your boys every time you go commando. The fabric of your pants, jeans, or shorts could be abrasive to your groin. Such clothes aren’t usually designed to be particularly gentle on this sensitive body part, unlike underwear.

As a second layer of clothing, underwear also serve as a barrier between your groin and the potentially irritating material, ensuring your package remains safe.

2. You’ll less likely suffer from crotch rot

Officially called tinea cruris, crotch rot is a skin infection caused by wearing tight or wet clothes. As long as you keep yours clean, wearing underwear reduces your risk of getting crotch rot. Underwear absorb sweat well, unlike pants, jeans, and shorts in general, keeping your boys dry.

Some underwear are made of sweat-wicking fabric (e.g., polyester blends) which absorb and make sweat evaporate easily. Wearing such underwear greatly reduces your risk of getting crotch rot.

3. You’ll less likely have particularly embarrassing sweat stains

Seen the meme of how a girl’s sweaty behind made out the Bat Signal? Imagine how embarrassing it would be if something similar happened to you. Wearing underwear will help you avoid it. Apart from absorbing sweat well, underwear act as a second layer of clothing that traps and prevents your sweat from staining your pants, jeans, or shorts.

4. You’ll avoid unwittingly flashing someone

Speaking of embarrassing accidents, how many times have you left your fly open? I guess more than you’d admit. If you always wear underwear, you won’t unwittingly leave Junior exposed if you forget to zip up or if the zipper breaks.

5. You won’t have to choose the clothes you wear more carefully than usual

It’s also possible to unwittingly flash someone if you wear potentially revealing bottoms, like cotton pants. Such pants become thin over time. To avoid unwittingly showing more than you’d like, always wear underwear.

6. You’ll make certain other accidents less embarrassing

Clothes become fragile if you keep them for many years. Old clothes could break anytime. How mortifying it will be if your pants suddenly split in public. It won’t be so awful if you were wearing underwear. To be safe, always wear some.

7. You’ll less likely have a visible wet spot

How many times have you tried to shake your willy dry but still have a few drops in your drawers? You might’ve lost count already. There are many ways to avoid having this accident but men still suffer from it. It will get worse with age. To avoid unwittingly staining your front, always wear underwear.

8. You’ll less likely have an exposed leak

Junior isn’t your only body part that leaks. So does your derriere. It’s called accidental bowel leakage (ABL). Incontinence, old age, and certain ailments and food cause ABL. The discharge will show if you go commando, so to save yourself from having such a humiliating accident, always wear underwear.

9. You’ll truly be comfortable

Advocates of going commando swear it’s much more comfortable than wearing underwear. But many people say you have to get used to it first, so their claim isn’t entirely true. And given the risks, we don’t think you’ll be completely comfortable even if you get used to it.

10. You could look even sexier

Going commando leaves you with nothing but your own devices for seduction if you get lucky. No matter how hot you are, you could offend your partner if you come to the party with no drawers. Some people think it’s creepy.

There are also underwear designed to enhance your goods. An example is bulge-enhancing briefs. You can’t enjoy the benefits of such underwear if you decide to stop wearing underwear.

11. You’ll make foreplay even better

There are also underwear that let you do role-play in the bedroom. An example is underwear for go-go boys. Wearing such underwear will be great for a sultry show for your partner, which is sure to spice things up. Doing away with underwear leaves you with no opportunity to have such fun. How boring is that?

To Wrap Things Up

I’m all for comfort and freedom of expression, but I doubt that going commando is a good way to achieve it. It will only put you at much risk, contradicting its benefits if there are actual benefits at all. Always wearing underwear instead is truly comfortable, safe, and fun, proving there’s no reason to stop.

The Good Sides And The Bad Sides Of Various Types of Men’s Underwear

Looking like a badass or Super Hero and feeling cool and comfortable is what every man wants in a pair of underwear. Sporting a look that fetches the best compliments may not bring the best comfort experience to a man who does not feel properly situated down stairs. Men- you have to admit that your underwear has to be your man parts best buddy and if it is not, you have to consider other options!

In this article, we will discuss four types of men’s underwear while highlighting their pros and cons so that you know exactly what your “package” is getting into.

Boxers are made out of non stretch but cool patterned fabrics and their simplistic designs promote comfort through the ability of the balls to hand naturally, albeit on either the left or right side of the inseam. If you gain weight accompanied by a new “body shape”, boxers will help you hide it. However, it is their simplistic design that can make your sensitive parts get choked if you happen to sit at the wrong angle accidentally. They may also rise up your leg when you sit and if you are wearing shorts, your intimate parts may even get exposed to the world.

Briefs can complement your physique if it is sculpted like a model. Briefs are made out of more elastic fabrics and they will offer your parts a lot of support, at the expense of keeping them at a higher temperature and at a fixed, secured position smashing the package into the groin ALL DAY LONG! Many briefs also do not have a urination fly, which makes them a riskier option if you are drunk and want to urinate. If you are not careful enough while urinating, your briefs may snap back, leaving you urinating inside your underwear! Not classy. Additionally, briefs can rise up around the back, making your “panty-line” look prominent especially if you are not wearing good-quality slacks. i.e. you may as well wear your wife’s panties and save yourself some money if this is your desired fit (your junk smashed into the groin ALL DAY Long leaving a hot sweaty sticky situation in the old pantaloons). If you want your cajones to be comfortable, you many need another option.

Boxer briefs combine the best features of boxers and briefs, which is why they are highly preferred by today’s men who put a lot of emphasis on functionality as well as comfort. Boxer briefs can provide some support to your private parts, saving them from getting strangulated and allowing them to stay in place. Boxer briefs can be your best sports underwear, allowing you to confidently showcase your athletic self and your tough physique. But there is one, that right One and only 1 better option.

The final type of underwear which is the best mens underwear available is Mens SHEATH pouch underwear. They have the best of what mens boxer briefs have to offer but with an added feature that will literally keep you out of sticky situations preventing you have having a hot mess in your pants. SHEATH Mens pouch boxer briefs allow you to hang naturally while simultaneously isolating the male repro – organs from the inner thighs to reduce heat, friction, sweating, and sticking keeping your “PACKAGE” cool, comfortable, dry, and situated. What more can you ask for? They come in basic classic rugged designs based primarily on functionality over fancy stripes, fonts, and patterns. SHEATH Underwear is Mens underwear. Real Men not fancy Men. If you need to match your girl friends underwear, SHEATH is not for you, at least until we release a women’s line muhuhahaha, which won’t be for at least a couple more years. Lol. No progress is synonymous with death. We will continue to grow but as it stands, SHEATH is the best mens option available.

Final Note:

Some fabrics are ideal for certain seasons. For example, while cotton is economic and can ensure some degree of comfort during hotter months, but modal is the ideal option for summer. During the colder months, you may go for underwear that is made of polyester to keep you warmer. It may not the best idea to go for polyester underwear during the summer as the fabric does not provide adequate level of cooling and may allow odor to stay as compared to other options like morino wool, bamboo or modal. We have you covered with our Modal options, which the bambo and Morino coming down the pipe in 2018. 🙂 Cheers Homies.
